biography

Sarah Tacy, founder of Ganesha Performance, grew up with a passion for athletics as well as a strong curiosity about the body and mind’s influence on performance. On her journey to overcoming a severe back injury during her college lacrosse career, Sarah found yoga. Yoga became her greatest teacher and ticket back into athletics. Her mental and physical gains lead her to heightened performance and national accolades.
Sarah’s thirst for knowledge has created a strong background in both elite performance training and yoga. These diverse studies nurture a keen understanding of how to balance and compliment an athlete’s current training regime in order to help them achieve their mental and physical goals. Sarah believes that any challenge is simply a blessing towards greater growth, which is why Ganesha, the Overcomer of Obstacles, represent this company.
Sarah served as the Director of Research and Development for BlueStreak Sports Training for 3 years, helping to make it into a nationally recognized training facility. During that time Sarah received her Athletic Republic (AR) Level 3 Certification, served as a presenter at AR National Conference, was featured in Accelerate magazine, and published 4 articles in US Lacrosse Magazine. After founding Ganesha Performance, AR asked her to help create their training education program for facility directors and interns. With this came the honor of traveling and presenting with John Frappier, AR founder and head physiologist on speed development and performance enhancement. Sarah’s studies have continued under the tutelage of the CHECK Institute with certifications as a Holistic Life Coach and Exercise Coach.
Equally important has been Sarah’s drive within the field of yoga, attaining the highest possible certificate as a 500hr RYT (Registered Yoga Teacher). Ganesha Performance yoga is based off of Interdisciplinary Yoga, Anusara Therapeutics, Pranassage (similar to Thai massage), and sports training principles. Sarah has studied with some of yoga’s top teachers including Amba and Don Stapleton PhD, Daniel Hickman, Mitchel Bleier, and Douglass Brooks. Sarah hopes to create and instruct a 100hr Teacher Training course on Yoga for Athletes at the Nosara Yoga Institute.
Sarah is now regenerating some of the NHL’s top hockey players and the country’s top executives via yoga at Institute 3E. Recently hockeybarn.com interviewed her in order to provide players world wide with a better understanding of what yoga is and how it can be used to better their game. She will be helping Institute 3E incorporate yoga into their online HD program, which assesses athletes’ needs and creates an intricate personalized multi-dimensional training program.
Sarah believes that yoga can help anyone overcome their current obstacles that prevent them from performing at their peak. What does this mean? For professional athletes it means injury prevention, regenerating the body for the next workout/game, lengthening one’s career, increasing performance capabilities, and enhancing mental preparation for game days. For others it means improving one’s focus and flexibility for golf, tennis or cycling and participating pain free. It means being able to be a more active parent, friend, or spouse. Most importantly it means eliminating pains and physical limitations by re-creating strong fluid posture, as well as finding a mental and physical calm amidst life’s passing storms.
"What’s your Obstacle?" Overcome it with Ganesha Performance.
